Gemma Turner

In my practice of painting and video I communicate through expression and emotion, a synthesis of my personal feelings.  My work often tends to stem from an experience and my response to this, or how I interpret my recollection of this.  I am hugely inspired by all that is around me.  In particular I focus on the exploration of the relationship and interaction that is present amongst us all.

I feel the process also plays an integral role in my work.  Through my repetitiveness I am drawn to working in series.  And within each work, each addition of paint, each second of film, lies an unspoken layer of feeling – a visual narrative – reading my story.  Yet I hope in viewing my work one has the pleasure in discovering something beyond my intention, in reading my work in their own words.
