I am passionate about the human form and the complex
issues that surround behaviour.
It
amazes me the way in which personality is communicated and then interpreted,
often incorrectly (attributional error).
Sadly the consequences of which often result in discord.
Through my interpretation I try to portray (using
paint and video) the subject’s personality with an element of enigma, enabling
the viewer to create their own subjective analysis. Their view of the image is influenced by their life
experiences, memories and state of mind at the time; and so will hopefully vary
with each person.
In order to assess an individual’s interpretation of
my work I attach a questionnaire, encouraging viewer participation. I find this
research fascinating and the results will hopefully help highlight biases; of
which we are all guilty.
Or
perhaps allow no room for deviation, suggesting my influence in the creation of
the work is too obvious.
This
information will hopefully provide an ongoing circular base for future work.
